FAQs

What is luxury vinyl flooring?

Luxury vinyl flooring refers to products such as Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT) and Luxury Vinyl Planks (LVP). These options provide a high-quality alternative to traditional sheet vinyl, imitating the look of materials like timber, stone, or ceramic. Luxury vinyl is produced using durable PVC and protective layers, resulting in an attractive and long-lasting flooring solution that remains affordable.

How soon can you walk on LVT after it has been laid?

Once your LVT flooring has been installed, you can walk on it straightaway. This is because it is commonly fitted without adhesive, using systems such as click-lock mechanisms, which are ready for use immediately.

However, there are two styles LVT flooring, one click and  a dry back version (which requires adhesion). Using the dry back version will solely depend on installation and time scales can vary.

Please be aware that floor preparation is usually required for both products depending on sub floor condition. Our estimator will establish your needs during a conducted site visit.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of hardwood flooring?

Hardwood floors are often seen as a long-term investment. Although they can cost more initially than other options, they frequently last up to five times longer than the toughest carpets. With proper care, wooden floors may remain in excellent condition for many years, and they often add value to a property. They are also regarded as a timeless feature that rarely goes out of style.
The main disadvantage is the higher upfront cost. Over time, wood can also be affected by changes in temperature and moisture, which may alter its appearance.

Are wooden floors difficult to maintain?

Wooden floors are surprisingly straightforward to look after. Generally, all that is required is regular sweeping and an occasional wipe with a dry cloth to keep them clean. They can remain in excellent condition for many years without needing significant work, although at some point you may wish to refinish them. This could be as simple as applying a fresh layer of varnish, or sanding and resealing the surface.

How long can a wooden floor last?

With the right care, a wood floor can last many years. Unlike carpets, which often need replacing within two decades, wood provides excellent long-term value. Even if refinishing becomes necessary from time to time, wooden floors typically outlast many other floor coverings.

Is it easy to tell laminate apart from real wood?

Although laminate flooring has improved significantly in appearance, it is usually still possible to distinguish it from real timber. One of the clearest signs is the presence of repeated grain patterns in laminate planks, whereas genuine wood will always have natural, unique markings.

What are the pros and cons of laminate flooring?

Laminate flooring is an appealing choice for many, as it is inexpensive, simple to install, resistant to stains, and unlikely to trigger allergies. These qualities make it ideal for refreshing a room on a budget. However, it does have limitations. Laminate can be vulnerable to water damage, and while some designs look very realistic, they may not satisfy those who prefer the authenticity of real timber or tiles.

How do I choose the best laminate flooring?

The most suitable laminate flooring for you will depend on your budget and the specific demands of your space. To identify high-quality laminate, it is sensible to examine samples in person whenever possible, rather than relying only on photographs, which can sometimes be misleading.

Which is better: laminate or vinyl flooring?

Both laminate and vinyl are good affordable flooring options, but each has its strengths. Laminate tends to be thicker, which allows it to be printed and textured in a very lifelike way. Vinyl, though thinner, has better resistance to moisture and sunlight, making it more appropriate for kitchens, bathrooms, and utility areas.
